jobless

I hate being broke.
I need a job.
But no one on campus is hiring that has hours that work with my schedule.

Also I am TERRIFIED thinking about next year... but really excited to have my own place. And by own place I mean a place that is not a sorority house.

Also I want a bird. (An African Grey to be specific.)
But they are really expensive and expensive to take care of.
But I love them.

Life is hard.

I donno...

I've been feelings very mixed up lately. There is so much going on that I just don't see any point to, and it's frustrating. I just want to be done with a lot of stuff.

And thinking about how completely and utterly happy I was exactly 1 year ago today makes me feel sick to my stomach.

I donno where I am going with this...
I'm just kinda depressed and procrastinating.

Always Packing

... packing now and leaving for Iowa City tomorrow morning for my last year of school.

weird.

Another summer gone

Finished my internship at VH1 on Thursday. I was really sad to go. Although most days were slow, I did get to do some cool stuff, made connections, and all that good stuff. So I'd say it was a really positive experience.

ALSO I got some free swag... which is awesome.

All the interns went out to celebrate Wednesday night. We went to Katsuya in Hollywood (which is a celebrity hot spot or something like that). There were photographers outside of the resturant just in case people came there that night.

And oh man! Celebrity siting! One of the guys from White Chicks was there! OMFGLOLWTFBBQ!!!!!111111!!!!!! (yeah... it's sarcasm).

Thursday I went to the hideout... it was alright. I donno. I guess I wasn't really feeling it.

Last night we went to this party at some gallery where a band was playing. The lead singer was Kevin from American Pie. SO random.

I am all packed and heading to the airport for Chicago in about an hour. Then off to Iowa in a week.
... weird to think about.

Another weekend gone

This past week was really tiering for me. Not that there was a lot going on at work... but with someone staying at my place for much longer than I origionally thought I didn't get a lot of rest, or time to just relax by myself (which is something that I need in order to stay sane).

That is all I am going to say on that.

Highlights of this weekend:

I saw a comedy show. It was fun. A bit too long for my taste, but what you gonna do.

Did some shooting for Half Day Today on Sat, and then cleaned my brothers apartment as payment for his old iphone. Fair trade... but damn. His place was GROSS. At one point I was using this oven cleaner... and some of it got on my arm and now I have a fancy chemical burn. Awesome.

That night I saw "The Room", which is this HORRIBLE movie that has become a cult hit and has really fun audience participation. Also the director/main actor was there and did a Q&A about the film. SO funny. I you ever get a chance to see a screenig of this DO IT (and bring loys of plastic spoons).

Sunday I had some MUCH needed chill time. Then went to go see Tim and Eric live. It was a great show. I was happy.

umm that's about it. I'd say it was a fun last weekend.
Now it's my last week at work, hopefully when my boss comes back I will have more to do.

I'm sad to be leaving soon, but also kinda ready. I just want to finish my last year of school, have a great time, and then start the next phase of my life. I know what I need to do, and I want to get started.

... also I miss my birds and I can't wait to see them.

The Ugly Truth, Disneyland, No sleep and more!

This weekend was CRAZY!

Thursday I got tickets to the premiere of The Ugly Truth. So I invited Veronica to go with me. We left work around 4 to get to the premiere at 7:00. We stopped off at her place and mine to get ready... then proceeded to spend the next 2 hours in traffic! The invite said to be there at 7, for a start time of 7:30. But we didn't get to the Archlight until 7:30 becuase of traffic... so we were convinced that we wouldn't get in.

Luckily we did. We were not seated in the main dome where the actors and people who worked on the film were (they had a few over flow seats for fans in the main theater, but we arrived to late to get them). We were seated in the overflow theater, which was still a HUGE screen! Also got free popcorn and drink. I am by no means complaining.

The movie was really really cute. Just like evry other chick flick ever (27 Dresses, How to Loose a Guy in 10 Day, etc). But I still liked it because as hard core as I sometimes try to act (which is really not that hard core at all... but still), I am really a stupid romantic at heart.

After we decided it mgiht be fun to try and see if we could see the actors leaving the premiere. On our way to do so passed Kate Walsh! We didn;t stop her for a picture becuase she looked like she was in a big rush to get out of there.

I managed to squeeze my way to the front of the line at the red carpet. Katherine Heigle came out and was signing a bunch of stuff, but was being hurried off by the time she got to me. But I did tell her that I thougth she did a fantastic job in teh film (I actually do think she did really well). She stopped, turned to me and grabbed my hand and said "Oh! Thank you SO much!".

I was all kinds of star struck and happy! (I don't care if I am a fan girl... don;t judge me!)

Some fo the other actors came out on teh carpet as well. I saw Cheryl Hines, but she only stopped for a few autographs (Eric Winter didn;t stop for a single one!). Yvette Nicole Brown was really REALLY cool though. She signed a TON of stuff and was taking pictures with everyone (I got one). She was really really nice.

Gerard Butler also came out, singed a bunch of stuff and was taking pictures. He signed my ticket (whcih I am getting framed by the way... I don't even care how much of a dork that makes me) AND HE TOOK A PICTURE WITH ME! :)

This MADE my life! He was SOSOSO nice. I told him that I love him... cause I am a dorky fan girl and he turned back to me and said "oh I bet you say that to all the guys". I said "Yeah, you know I do. I love breaking hearts" And he laughed.

Wow. I am a nerd. But I don't care.

ANYHOO after the premiere went back to my apartment, only to find that I had forgotten my keys inside. Fuck.

So I called my brother and spent a sleepless night there.

The next day my friend Kayla came by. We walked along Wilshire and looked at some of the shops. There is this one re-sale designer store we stopped in. TOTAL rip off. Selling used clothes for over $300? yeah. no.

We also went to a pet store where I found a baby African Grey Parrot who I fell in love it and it loved me and now I want it. I need to find a way to raise $1300 for the "Sammi needs a bird" fund.

That ngiht I decided to go to this Jewish thing with Kayla and some people she knew. I say "Jewish thing" because I don't even want to ATTEMPT to spell the real name.
In any case I actually had a really good time. Good food, good people, good conversation.

Then went back to my apartment (got a ride back from this really hot, but really obnoxious russian guy Kayla know). Got back way late and had to wake up at 6:00am the next morning (night 2 with very little sleep).

The next day I went to Disneyland with Angela!!!

LOVE Disney! I am 12. Went on all the major rides at Disney and California Adventure. AND took pictures with my 3 favorite princesses and Mickey. SUCH a good day. I can't wait to go back.

I am only half kidding when I say that I want to be a disney princess. I might actually look into doing it for a summer... maybe. Every girl wants to be a disney princess... and I have never given up that dream!

I was SO tired by the end on the day, but for some reason I didn't sleep very well. My feet hurt a lkot and I think that that is what kept me awake (and some random late night phone calls).

(Night 3 with little sleep)

Sunday I did some filming for Half Day Today, which went really well.

The thign I filmed isn't complete yet, but check out the Half Day Today site. There's some really good stuff on there:

http://www.halfdaytoday.com

Kayla spent the night... and our sleeping habits did NOT mesh well.

Night 4 with VERY little sleep.

Other than all that not much is going on. Work has picked up a bit (I actually ahve stuff to do... which I should probably get on instead of writing here). Tom Green was in the office yesterday, I did not get to meet him. sad.

But last night and the giht before I slept! So I am a much happier person.

I can't beleive I only have a week and a half left in LA.
Where did summer go?

Flyer

Here are the flyers I made for the bakery thing. I decided to post them here cause... why not?

By the way the tasting of their stuff yesterday was AMAZING. I was a fat kid and tried everything... and then took seconds on my favorites cause there were left overs and I was put in charge of cleaning it up. NOTE: Do not put me in charge of left over free chocolate. My inner fat kid cannot resist such temptations.

I would strongly recommend them for all your future desert needs. They had a cool Ace of Cakes style MTV cake! SO cool and yummy! I wish I could bake... but if it doesn't come out of a box with step by step directions, I am lost.

Oh! And the woman who owns the business's name is Pedal. How cute is that?

Also sunburn status: Small areas have turned to tan, but for the most part I am still in an incredible amount of pain. ouch.

Rodeo, Sprinkles and more

This past week at work I did nothing. No. Seriously. I watched the MJ Memoiral. I also designed this flyer for a bakery showcase that is today... which is cool. Putting my graphic arts skills from high school to use.

But other than that didn't do a damn thing. I was BORED OUT OF MY MIND! (and this week doesn't look like it will be busier).

This weekend was fun though. Friday veronica and I went to Rodeo Drive and checked out the stores there. She bought some stuff... but I am broke and couldn't get a damn thing. I did stare into the Chanel store and cry though. Why am I not a spoiled little rich girl that can just throw away daddy's money!?!

One day... one day I WILL own Chanel. And it will be great.

We did stop at Sprinkles Cupcakes... which was AMAZING. Best cupcake EVER. I got a t-shirt from there. Because it's cool. Don't judge me.

We also decided to stalk the playboy mansion, cause we were over by there. We found it... but from the street you can only see the VERY tip of the roof. I was sad. We also drove around the UCLA campus and looked at the sorority houses. Too bad they don;t have an AXD there, cause otherwise we could have seen inside the hosue. Would have been WAY cool.

Sat. was just kinda chill. I saw Bruno... thought it was pretty good. But there was just something off about it. I donno. Not as good as Borat.

Sunday I went to Will Rogers beach. It was SUCH a nice day! There waves were HUGE too. I really love playing in the waves. It's so simple... and so fun. I love it.

But what I don't love is forgetting to re-aply sun screen and coming home to discover that I have turned into lobster woman. So that is where I am right now. All kinds of exhusted from the sun and in pain. Oh... and bright red. It's awesome. Let me tell you.

I need Aloe.
And a nap.

I am currently debating if I can get away with napping in my cubicle.
...I think the answer is yes.

Damn... what a great Thursday!/ I got "discovered"!

I got the day off on Thursday.

During the day I worked out at a gym, it felt AMAZING. I always feel a lot happier after working out... I went back today (Friday) and I think I will get a membership at the gym when my free trail is up.

Then around 4ish went out with Veronica to meet Jill (one of the other interns) at her place in Hollywood for dinner. We got thai. It was good. Then we decided to be tourists and went to Hollywood and Highland, which is where the Kodak theater and the handprints and stuff are.

It is ALSO where Michael Jackson's star happens to be. The crowd around it hasn't so bad (there was still a crowd) we we kinda leaned over and too a quick look. There is a shine around his star. There were also a BUNCH of people trying to sell MJ t-shirts, and some really really bad MJ impersonators around. Tacky Tacky (then again it is Hollywood and Highland... I donno what I expected).

We tried to see the Hollywood sign from Jill's roof... but for some reason it wasn't lit up.

On our way home Veronica and I decided to stop by MJ's house in Homely Hills (it was RIGHT on our way home). We stopped there and looked at the shrine. A lady gave us both a tea light, so we lit a candle for Michael.

Yeah. The guy was creepy. I don't know if he ever touch a child or not... but a lot of his other behavior was really really weird. BUT the guy inspired SO much, and I would be lying if I said that I didn't like a lot of his music. I think the guy deserves respect, and it was amazing looking at the shrines around his house (there was one main one, and a few small ones around). There was nothing but love for the guy there. People were telling stores about him too. One woman (the one who gave us the candle) cooked for him once.

So I'm glad we stopped by to see that and pay our respects (cause there is NO WAY IN HELL I am even going to attempt to go to the Staples Center).

After I got dropped off at home, I headed out to the Hideout (a small karaoke bar off the PCH). I'e gone there a few times before, and it is usually really chill. But last night it was CRAZY because the reality show "Bad Girls Club" was filming there.

UHHGGGGG I HATE HATE HATE that show! SO completely trashy. It's just girls acting like sluts, and that is exactly what they were doing in the bar! Also we had to wait forever to do karaoke cause any time one of the girls wanted to sing (which was a lot) they would get to go right away. One of the girls sounded ok... the others... it just hurt to listen to. Also if a guy they thought was cute was signing, they would jump up and join him and grind on him. SO tacky.

I was trying to hide, cause I DO NOT want to even appear in the background on that show. THIS is how much I despise it!

Also it was SO obvious these girls were doing their best to act. When the cameras were on them they would do something "bad". As in grab a guy and grind on him/ make out with him. And as soon as the camera was off them, they would act normal. But if the camera was off any of them for too long, they would draw attention to themselves and then start at it again.

I have no idea WHY they chose to go to the Hideout. It is NOT that kinda bar... but whatever. It'll look that way on TV I guess.

ALSO I got "discovered" last night! lol

I was my turn to do karaoke (the dj actually skipped over a bunch of people to get me up... probably cause I'm a girl). I sang "Come on Eileen", and apparently rocked it out. Some friends I was with jumped up around me and did the dance... and then (of course) the "bad girls" jumped up to and danced... whatever. (They weren't recording at this point, thank God).

ANYHOO after I was done this guy comes up to me and said he thought I did really great and had a great voice. He THEN said he was from Paradigm Agency and that he knew some people who he thought would love to meet me.

(I have actually filed some stuff from them at VH1, they are not the biggest agency around, but they are a legit one).

So there you have it. I have been discovered! Apparently all you gotta do is rock out to "Come on Eileen", who knew?

Now it is time to abandon all my friends and buy a giant house and fancy fancy car! Fuck you Honda Civic! I'm getting a Corvette! (I hope anyone that read that can pick up on the sarcasm. If not... you fail).

No really... I did email him today, we'll see if I get a response or if anything happens from it. I am not getting my hopes up or anything. We'll just see. If I get a meeting, awesome. If something comes out of it, even more awesome. If not? Then I just have a fun story to tell (and know that if I ever do karaoke again, "Come on Eileen" is a song that I will not look like an idiot doing).

SO that was my amazing Thursday!

Tonight I am seeing Equus with Jeff (one of my roommates). I haven't seen it before... but I understand there is horse fucking involved. Should be a memorable evening!

Save the Music

So I DID end up going to the Save the Music event on Saturday night.

It was a Matt Nathanson concert at a lounge in Westwood.

I spent a good part of last week getting contact ionformation for a bunch of celebs the people running the event were interested in and sending out invites. There was a BUNCH of people on the list, but not all realistic (they had me send out an invite to Leo Dicaprio). Only about 7 said they would come (all pretty much C and D listers... most famous was Stanford from Sex and the City and Rene from True Blood).

Veronica and I got to the event (we went to the wrong place first... THAT was embaressing). Our job was to check talent in and bring them to the "red carpet" (which was really just a very small carpet with a banner thing in back for photos... the only photogs that were there were the ones hired for the event). Only 1 person frome the list ended up showing up. Katie Chonacas, who had a role in "It's Always Sunny in Phili" and was in the straight to DVD movie "Legacey" with Hillary Duff's sister. This would have been much cooler for me had I actually SEEN Legacey. (Fuck you random ass sorority girls who checked it out from the Iowa City Blockbuster and never returned it! Fuck. You.)

Anyhoo, she seemed pretty nice... kinda acted like she was a bigger deal then she was. Like the entrence to the event was roped off and she didn't want to walk the 5 feet around to get in. Yeah the guard guy at the event should have stepped aside to let her in, but he was kinda clueless and jsut stood there, despite us telling him top let her in. So instead of walking the 5 feet around, she kinda pushed passed him. Whatever. Other than that she seemed nice enough.

Also while taking photos on the red carpet she was REALLY wokring it, which is fine. I get that she wants to get a good picture and blah blah blah. But really? It was a SUPER casula event (Veronica and I were way overdressed as no one bothered to inform us of this), and she was "working it" a BIT much. Veronica and I just kinda stood there laughing quietly to ourselves a bit (we later made fun of her and took some pictures on the red carpet ourselves and tried to "work it). We also talked to the girl she was with. She seemed nice. She was wearing these CRAZY ass high shoes (at the VERY least a 6 inch heal... maybe even 7) and she was tryign to tell us that the shoes were "like slippers". Yeah, sure hun. You were dieing inside DON'T even lie. I don't care if it is the BEST constructed shoe in the world. A 6 inch heel is a 6 inch heel and that is in NO WAY SHAPE OR FORM even CLOSE to a slipper (maybe that is why they didn't want to walk the 5 extra feet? It's all comeing together now...)

So Veronica and I waited for about an hour at the entrance for more of the booked talent to show... but KAtie was the only one. We did however get interviewed by this CRAZY lady for... something. I don't even know. She jsut came up to us with her camera guy and started asking us questions. We were like.... we're interns... but... alright. She had this creepy smile plastered on her face. I'm pretty sure that I will have nightmeres about it for years to come.

ANYHOO after about an hour we were told that we could stop waiting and enjoy the event. Matt Nathanson was fantastic. Like really. I loved him. We got way close to the stage too which was really neat. He was also really funny and would crack a bunch of jokes, he has kidna a Dane Cook humor.

The concert ended and a BUNCH of people left, but Veronica and I decided to stay and chill and whatnot. They had a bunch of art up so we looked around at that. One cool thing is there was this wall that they just put a bunch of blank canvases on and paint near, and anyone could jsut go and paint whatever they wanted.

We talked to a few people, and got hit on by these weird ass guys who insisted on getting us cookies. We tried hiding from them, but they found us. Thankfully they got the hint after a while though.

Then we hung out with some other interns/ staff from the LA film festival (including fucking Kevin who we talked to outside the event- he was checking other people in and took the pictures of us on the red carpet... he couldn't figure out my camer though. It was point and shoot!).

The party kinda got really lame around midnight so we left with the LA film festival people and went to this hooka bar. It was alright... personally I like the one in Iowa City better. This one was really loud and packed, where the red poppy is much more chill enviornment and you kinda get your own personal space. Some of the people ditched out early and didn't pay enough so those of us left got stuck paying a bit more (I threw in only a few extra bucks, I couldn't afford to do more). I really hate when people do that. It is SO crazy rude. That's why I always try to settle the bill before people leave.

But overall thye night was really good. A lot of people came up to me saying that they loved my dress and one girl told me that she liked my make-up. Hurray for ego boosts (to be honest it was nice... I tend to be very self concious so those comments were really nice).

Sunday I went to the beach with Sam. I haven't seen her in FOREVER so that was cool. We got hit on by this drunk guy at dinner. He was at the tabel next to us and would NOT get the hint that we didn't want to talk to him (despite ignoring him, giving him dirty looks, not acting interested in ANY way, refusing drink offers, and even inventing a fake boyfriend to try and get him off our backs). I was SO thankful when the check came and we left.

Being hit on by creepy 30 year olds is seeming to become the story of my life here. At the OLDEST I can pass for 23... why would they think I'd be interested? GROSS.

Note to guys (not that I know of guys that read this... or anyone else for that matter) if a girl is not interested and makes that clear to you (like we did to this guy): LEAVE HER ALONE!!!

Other than that though, it was a pretty good weekend.

In the office now... killing time.
(Ignore spelling errors and typos and this computer is not letting me do spell check).

White Rabbit, Greek, and more!

Busy weekend!

Thursday night:
-There was a band (White Rabbit) that played at MTV Thursday afternoon. I didn't see them, cause I had no idea it was happening, but some of the other interns did and said they were good and were gonna go see them in concert that night (they were playing at the Troubadour in West Hollywood). I wanted to see them too, so we got our names put on the list cause MTV is magic like that (I'm not gonna lie I felt like a BAD ASS walking up to the line and being all "I'm on the list". I am SUCH a tool).

So me and Veronica (she was the only other one that ended up going) went to the concert. It was really good! I loved the band (they are sending over some cds to MTV, so I think I am gonna grab one of those). Also the Troubadour is a really cool place... it's split level and small, but I liked it a lot. I'll probably try to see another show there.

Friday:

I worked on Greek as an extra again!

I rented a car and headed down to the studio. I was suppose to get there at 2:30ish... but traffic was TERRIBLE. Seriously it look me 2 hours to go 7 miles. It was AWFUL. But I finally got there (half an hour late).

I shot 2 scenes. The first was showing a bunch of girls signing up to do a charity undie run. I was one of the girls in the line signing up. Jake McDorman (Evan) was there... in his undies. Probably one of the greatest moments in my life (no really the guy look SO good without a shirt!).

The other scene took place at night, it was the actual "undie run" event. I didn't ahve to strip down to my undies, but some extras did. I was just in a tank and shorts. In this scene I saw Scott Foster (Cappie) in his boxers (this WAS the greatest moment in my life). I talked to him for like... 2 seconds (while he was only wearing boxers), and Spencer (Cassie). Both were really nice and fun people.

Also the guy who plays Calvin said "hi" to me, and I saw the actresses who play Ashley and Rebecca, so that was neat.

Also they needed a "kissing couple" for the show for some still photos, so I figured it's an extra pay bump and I've already made out with someone on the show... why not? So I kissed a guy for the cameras, he was cute so it was all good.

Basically I had fun. It was a LATE night though. I got home at 4am.

I kinda missed extra work... just being on the set and all and getting to talk to a lot of really different people is fun. So I'll look into do a bit more of that (hopefully more on Greek... cause it's Greek).

Saturday:
Chelsea was in town this weekend!!! She stayed at my place. I felt bad cause we were gonna hang out Friday too... but the shoot went SO long. I had no idea it was gonna be a night shoot, but what are you gonna do?

We slept in a bit, returned my rental car, then got pancakes. After that we pretty much just chilled out at the apartment.

Sunday:
Chelsea and I walked down to Santa Monica beach and the shopping area around there. It was good times. Our feet killed on the way back. We also made brownies, which is terrible because now I am eating them.

Chelsea left Monday while I was at work. I was very sad that she left. :(

Monday:
Yeah... nothing really to speak of happened Monday except that I GOT AN IPHONE! It's my brothers old one... but it is still pretty and I like it.

Tuesday:
Found out today that I MIGHT (nothing for sure) get to go to a "Save the Music" event this weekend, which would be really really really cool. I am super hoping that it ends up working out.

Wednesday, June 17, 2009

creative title.

New stuff going on:

-today worked on a list of "cougars" in hollywood. So THAT was exciting...

-The other day the Tia and Tamera from Sister Sister were in the office for a meeting. I saw them walking out of the elevator.

-Read a pilot at work... I guess VH1 is considering doing some scripted shows which is cool.

-I got a job as an extra on Greek again for Friday, so I am actually really excited for that. I had a really good time on the set last year, so I am hoping this time will be just as good of an experience.

-Chelsea might be coming in to visit me this weekend! I miss her and I am really excited to have her stay here :)

-I am watching an insane amount of Ghost Hunters and want to be a paranormal investigator now. Who else is in? It'll be fuuunnn!!!

Nothing exciting going on at work.

It seems as though all I do is create lists of different people, and then do research on them (single male celebs in their 30's, socialites, etc.)

I tired to find some extra work for friday... but there was nothing going on.

Thursday I went to a karaoke bar and thought it would be a really good idea to sing kelly clarkson. it was not a good idea, in fact it was a bad idea.

Yesterday I walked to 3rd street to look for a yellow dress for recruitment and just kinda shop in general. I also stopped off at a craft store and bought this wood burning thing and some unfinished wooden boxes, so I am gonna be all crafty this weekend.

Last night I went to a bar in Hollywood. It was fun. Drinks were expensive, and it kinda got old after a few hours. But it's all good.

Tuesday, June 9, 2009

Dear sorority, I have failed you.

I guess Ed Westwick (aka CHUCK BASS) was here yesterday, and I missed him cause I was in my sad little cubical and couldn't see. I have failed. I am sad.

June 9th

Nothing too exciting going on here, but I felt I should probably do an update anyway.

This weekend I went to Venice Beach with Greg. We just kinda walked around and caught up. I got a fun necklace, he bought this really cool little painting thing.

Sunday I went to a shoot for Half Day Today (my brothers sketch comedy/ production group). Filming went well, I think the sketch is gonna turn out all kinds of good.

Other then that nothing too exciting going on. At work I've really just been fileing things and doing talent research.

I did have an epic battle with a copy machine yesterday! (I won).

Also since I am off on Fridays I plan to look for extra work to do. I just don't like sitting around doing nothing for 3 days in a row. I tend to drive myself crazy when I do that. Or I just waste my life playing the sims.

Oh! Speaking of the sims! You can play the sims 3 on the iphone (and in about 2 weeks I am getting my brothers old iphone). This means that no one will ever see me again.

... back to doing research (and by research I am TMZ).

Beatles Rockband!!!

Rockband is apart on MTVN (in fact they are actually on our same floor) and today they had a special party promo thing for the Beatles Rockband game. So what it was was 3 rockband stations, 2 with the game that is out now and 1 that was on a main stage thing with Beatles. They only had about 10 Beatles songs to choose from at the thing (It's still being developed). But it was still really REALLY badass. There is 3 part Harmony yo!!!

So I did "Call Me" on the regular rockband and sounded like shit (turns out I actually only know the chorus of that song. I'm gonna work on fixing that). Then I did "I Wanna Hold You Hand" on the Beatles one and I rock the fuck out of that shit. No. Seriously. I got 100%. AND did some of the harmonies (the harmonies are optional/ extra points).

It was SO badass... when that comes out in September I strongly STRONGLY recommend getting it... so that I can come over and play it.

Other then that I just put headshot into alphabetical order and then filed them all day. I am maybe half way through it. It sucks.

Going out tonight.
Good times.

1 week of work

Started work at Vh1 this week. Here's a super exciting update from my week!

Hurray!

I started work on Monday. It was before the main orientation for all the interns at MTVN and 2 of the girls from my department weren't there, so we didn't really go over anything within my specific department. I shadowed a girl for the first half of the day, then when she left (she was only there a half day) I took over the phones for her and just did "research" (which involved me on TMZ and Perez all day). Then me and another intern spent about an hour trying to figure out how to put together these magazine racks.
... seriously. They were really confusing.

The MTVN offices are really cool. They look all kinds of trendy- kinda real worldish... only with cubicals and no hot tub (so probably actually not very real wordly at all). But they still are cool... and trendy and whatnot.

It's also a really relaxed environment. People just kinda yell to each other in the offices and talk about celeb gossip. Not to say it's not professional. It is. It's just chill.

Tuesday was orientation. All of us were put into a conference room room and shown a video of all of the MTVN channels having a BIG party together. YAY!!! Then we drew pictures of what MTVN means to us. We used smelly markers. It was great.

Then or department had our own orientation. After that I was given my first job, which was to do some research on talent (this took all day).

Today I finished up the research from yesterday (it was ALOT). Covered phones again, and organized head shots that had been sitting in a box for a LONG ass time. No really... there were some from 2001.

Last night I went to a meeting for my brothers new production group thing called "Half Day Today".

Other then that nothing has really been up. I've pretty much just been at the offices and then crashing after. But I have Fridays off- so I might see if I can find any extra work to (if I can find a good car rental place that is close).

So... yeah. That's y update.

Back in LA

Got to LA yesterday morning. Flew in this time (which is far nicer than driving). Flew over the Grand Canyon, which was really cool.

The flight was uneventful... so was most of the day. Spent it shopping for stuff, setting up my room and whatnot.

Then I went to go see Up with Al and his friend. We saw it at the El Capitan theater (which is the Disney theater located across from the Kodak Theater on Hollywood Blv). They put on a little show before the movie. There was this guy playing a really cool organ, and he was great. The show thing was not so awesome. It was 2 people singing some high school musical songs/ other happy family friendly songs about summer (oh joy).

The movie itself was fantastic. I loved it. Go see it if you haven't.

Today was pretty chill. Walked to the MTV building to kinda see how long the walk was... went to Ralph's to get coffee. Good times.

Went bowling tonight and had a B-list celebrity sighting! Schuyler Fisk from the movie Orange County was there. I was actually kinda excited because I saw her in Iowa when she was touring with Josh Radin. I have her cd and I really love it. I didn't say hi cause... you know... it's awkward.

It's good to be back.

First day of work tomorrow.

Summer plans?

I applied for an internship with VH1, but as I have yet to hear back (I was suppose to find out if I got it on Friday) I am gonna say I'll most likely be returning to extra work again this summer.

The plus side is that I can try for SAG vouchers this year again and I will get paid (VH1 would be unpaid). I will also get a lot of reading done so any suggestions for books would be appreciated. (NOT Twilight).

... Should be interesting this time around as I will be driving a "rent-a-reck". I am just hoping that the thing won't break down on the 101 or something like that. Good, good times.

I booked my flight today, so I am getting excited. I leave May 30th and come home August 1st.

blah blah blah

I am done Done DONE with my Warhol paper for biopics class!

I have also decided it would be a really great idea to make a blog about Andy Warhol and Oscar Wilde. They are friends... it's great.

...oh boredom. What you make me do.

I am also currently waiting to hear back about a casting internship with VH1. I'm suppose to find out today... but so far nothing.

Time for food!

an entry

I went to visit my high school today. First time since I graduated.

It was so strange.

They did some major renovations to the place. Some parts were the same, others completely new. Unrecognizable. In the old parts though, it felt like I never left. Most of the teachers I would have wanted to visit retired (those that were involved in theater) but I did run into a few other teachers I knew and was met by them with a blank stare. I guess I didn't really leave an impression at that school. I was a quiet kid. I didn't speak up much or do anything extraordinary. I'm not particularly an extraordinary person. I don't know what I was expecting.

Or maybe it's all bullshit when teachers say that they care about their students. Who the fuck knows.

In any case it was incredibly weird to be back there again.
I am glad to be out of high school.

I don't know if I would like to go back there again.

Why I will never find true love and therefore V-day sucks ass

Wrote this the day before V-day and performed it at No Shame. Decided to post it here cause... why not?:

I found a quote on google that said "true love only comes once. Don't fuck it up." But what about those of us who have a;ready fucked it up? Are we doomed to wonder the earth alone and become cat ladies?

The answer is, of course, yes.

I had my one chance at true love. He came to me in the form of a drunken Iowa student the weekend of the ISU vs Iowa game.

I met my would be lover outside of John's Grocery while walking with my friend Kayla. She will also be a cat lady with me, as this wonderful hunk of man was also her true love (I believe in threesomes. Don't judge me). We were on a mission to get eggs to make matzo balls from said grocery store, when all of a sudden a car pulled up beside us. The windows rolled down, and there he was. The most perfect man I had ever seen. He looked our way, stumbled out of the car, dropped one of the 2 beers he was double fisting, pointed at us and said "You're beautiful, I'm gonna get you pregnant." He then proceeded to pass out.

And like fools, FOOLS I TELL YA, we did not run into that man's arms! The siren call of the matzo balls was too strong; it was tempting us to their Jewy and kosher goodness! We fell prey to their call... and walked away.

Only later did we realize the mistake that we had made. That was it. That was our one chance at love, and we fucked it up.

You see, he didn't just want to make sweet sweet love to us. He wanted us to have his future drunken frat boys. His child... of love! Who I could then dress up like a panda or another equally fluffy and adorable animal. And if that isn't the ultimate sign of love, then I don't know what is. And if you think about it, being a woman of 20, I have officially evaded teenage pregnancy. Therefore there would be absolutely no societal stigma! AND I would have been able to have a threesome with Kayla. I am not a lesbian... but damn. The things I wouldn't do to that woman.

It would have been magical. But no. we walked away from happiness and opted for a lonely life of moo moos, lawn gnomes, and cats with silly names as Sir Douglas Bradford Kittiesworth and Mrs. Margaret Loraine Pawsington the Duchess of Milk.

And that is why I would like to say to the people who are in charge of this kind of thing (because they are clearly reading this) can we just get rid of Valentine's day?

This isn't one of those "Oh, it;s a greeting card holiday...and capital consumerism... media brainwashing" speeches. We've all heard those and OMFG they are so original... and I applaud them for their unique ideas that I TOTALLY have the attention span to listen to. But they don't change the fact that v-day still exists.

Here's my argument. People in love get other days. They get anniverseries to display their love, and those can be as often as they want! "OMG it's our 53 and a half week anniversery BUY ME FLOWERS!!!!!!!!!"

Even without that kind of bafoonery, when you are in love you get every single fucking day of the year (or however long you are together) to BE in love, to SHOW each other you are in love, and to act disgusting in public.

Do you REALLY need an official day to show off your love, and rub said love in lonely people's faces? we're already alone, THANK YOU for reminding us of it.

So seeing as I am doomed to never find true love, I would super appreciate the removal of Valentines Day.

So until that happens, I am going to start my collection on cats. I am currently accepting name suggestions.

Thanks.
